It's still a WIP. I'm working on the texture maps now.
I added in many details to make it interesting to "read". I like details as every little detail tells its own story.

I used Maya to create the base mesh. After the modeling done I'll create texture maps in Mudbox and Photoshop. Thank you for looking, your C&C are more than welcome!

The ideas was inspired by a trip I took in 1992. During the trip I visited a temple that was still under renovation. It was was so quite since not alot of tourists were there. With the out proportionally huge architecture and highly saturated red wall and golden roof, it made me feel so remote from the reality and almost like in a fantasy world. It was just a magnificent scene.

Many years past that impression still lingering around in my memory and finally became the subject of this piece. I Hope you enjoy it and your C&C are always welcome!

I built the base meshs in Maya, created normal and displacement maps in Mudbox, rendered out in MentalRay for Maya and some final touch in Photoshop.
He is the main character of "Journey to the West", a story dating back to the Tang dynasty. I think it can be considered as the Chinese version of Lord of the Ring.
